Right now, we are looking to strengthen and develop long term survey support in our operations in Egypt.
As Lead Surveyor with BP Egypt, you'll be responsible for survey and positioning assurance for the Region. One of the first needs will be to prepare for the start of a major development project in the West Nile Delta in 2012. On international assignment to Cairo, we will look to you to get the best out of your team (a mix of expatriate and national staff), as well as to oversee budget control and contractor management.
The background we’re looking for
For a role with challenges like these, we look for a degree in Surveying or Geomatics, or an equivalent qualification, combined with a solid background in a broad range of offshore survey operations. It also requires deep technical knowledge of positioning by both GNSS and acoustic methodologies. Thorough knowledge of fundamentals like geodesy, coordinate reference systems and transformations is expected. You’ll also have expertise in project management including procurement, contract review and negotiation, and financial controls, with the ability to prioritise the demands of multiple tasks. Familiar with HSSE management systems, you’ll have a portfolio of effectively managed survey projects to your credit. Ideally, you’ll bring to the role knowledge of data management and analysis by GIS and membership of a professional surveying institution. The Cairo role is offered as a full-time expatriate assignment.
